Frequently asked questions about this scheme are as follows:
What kind of training is given?
'Training' as such is not strictly provided. The idea of
work shadow placements is that the individual gains
knowledge transfer
in an informal basis from the person that they are shadowing.
However, if a training element is specifically required we
can certainly arrange through training centres in
the UK and France
.
One element of training that we suggest alongside the work
shadow is 'English as a Business Language's. This course
is run for
us by very experienced professionals who are used to teaching
and training 'students' from the Middle East (usually at
the very top level). We suggest where suitable that this
course is
run prior to a candidate undertaking a work shadow assignment
(usually in the 2-3 weeks prior) as this can enable the course
to be tailored to the kind of terminology that they will
come across whilst shadowing.
How long is the placement?
The length of the work shadow placement can be tailored
to the clients’ and individuals’ needs.
During the course of their visit there is the flexibility
to arrange a series
of one day visits to companies (effectively guided tours),
3-4 days shadows in 2 or 3 different companies or 2-4 weeks
solid in one organisation.
We have found that a 4-6 week period in the UK works well,
which breaks down as 3 weeks language training and 3 weeks
work shadow.
As mentioned above this can be broken down into segments during
the overall period if required.
Do they get some kind of certificate of completion?
Yes! Certificates are usually issued by the company conducting
the work shadow (including attendance record) as well as
by our
UK agents. If they have attended the English as a Business
Language
course they will also receive an accredited certificate for
that.
Do they have to pass any kind of test or exam?
There are no tests associated with the work shadow placement.
What can happen if requested by the Employer is that we conduct
a 'debrief' upon which a report is prepared based on their
performance during their visit. This can be scored if required.
There is an optional test that can be sat at the end of the
English Language course if desired. Again there would be
another certificate
issued upon passing this.
